Welcome to The Scribble Post Publishing Platform
What a beautiful day it is to launch thescribblepost.com, a publishing platform I have been gradually working on for the past few months. I’ve always dreamed of creating a publishing platform for me to express myself on a variety of topics that I rarely get a chance to explore in my day-to-day life. I’ve always enjoyed writing throughout my life as it’s a way to capture my inner thoughts and reflect on them later. This habit isn’t something that I have picked up in recent years, but it dates back to my childhood, where I would jot down tips, tricks, futuristic news on technology, and even funny jokes. Over the years, this habit has evolved and transitioned from writing in physical notebooks to digital note-taking. Now that I am launching my own platform, I plan to bring this passion into the digital world to share it with others.
A decade ago, I remember one article that caught my attention when I was reading through my RSS feeds about flying cars in development. It was surprising to read for the first time what the future had to offer. To be honest, I was skeptical to an extent, wondering if it would even make it to the market, as it felt somewhat unlikely. Fast forward to today, when I came across this flying car being FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) approved, the excitement that I experienced realizing that it was the same company’s flying car on which I had noted down a few years ago, was indescribable, almost surreal. It’s a strange feeling mixed with nostalgia and pride, witnessing something I once jotted down has now become reality. It felt like reading about history as it unfolds. Pardon me if I am exaggerating. But I’m sure there are others who can relate to me in this context.
If any of you are wondering which company is making flying cars? I am talking about Terrafugia, a company that decided to make the 1960s “The Jetsons” a reality.
Over the years, when I discovered digital note-taking, I have upgraded the way I document thoughts and findings. This overwhelmingly has improved the way I retrieve information, which has been both empowering and transformative; thanks to the continuously evolving technology. With these tools, I have acquired the ability to curate complex data into concise, organized information - something that was a challenge for me in the past. This has made me efficient and productive in my personal and professional life.
I love writing, there is no doubt about it. I think I have made it clear a while ago. As much as I love writing, I have realized that it’s not only about putting words on paper, but staying informed and up to date with the latest trends. To do this, I have been reading an increasing number of blog posts, which is not only broadening my knowledge on various topics but has sparked the idea of writing for others.
By sharing my thoughts, experiences, and insights with others, I hope to not only learn on a new topic but contribute to a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about exploring new ideas and perspectives.
With the launch of The Scribble Post website and my first post here, I’ve found a renewed passion for writing about interesting and intriguing topics that I come across, sharing my insights and thoughts in a way that feels natural and authentic. As the website name suggests, The Scribble Post isn’t about the most professional writing that you would come across the internet - it’s about using plain, relatable words and human experience to convey information in a simple and accessible way. Here, I’m more focused on the ideas behind the words rather than the polished structure. It’s a space for imperfections, which reflects the rawness of human thought and experience. Whether I’m reflecting on a lifestyle or sharing a passing idea, The Scribble Post is my outlet for expression without constraints.
Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.
This is a fantastic remark made by “Edward Snowden” about the privacy of an individual. Privacy in 2024 has become something that an individual has to opt into, which is sad and laughable. Giant corporates provide free tools in the name of innovation and accessibility but aim to capture valuable data for much bigger gains. This is not acceptable, and no one should be that powerful to harvest the data of every single human being on the planet.
There are plenty of websites and blogs out there which are business-oriented - bombarded with ads, lack privacy, and misuse of personal data. However, my vision is to enforce privacy and avoid any third-party ads or tools that could compromise the readers’ and their reading experience. With this vision, the financial and intellectual burden is resting on my shoulders. Despite this, one of my core goals is to create a platform that prioritizes readers’ privacy over financial gains.
“Over time, I envision bringing like-minded authors on board to contribute and collaborate”
What sets the site apart, and how I plan to manage it.
Since this site is reader-focused and emphasizes readers’ privacy, I’ve decided to roll out the first phase of this website as a clean, minimalistic, reader-focused static website generated using the popular static site generator called Hugo. For analytics, I’ve opted to use server logs with GoAccess, a tool that will help me visualize the data. These choices benefit me in two ways: First, it enhances the page load speeds. Second, it keeps the website more secure as there are no backend technologies involved. The main drawback is that it requires manual effort to generate reports, but I plan to automate that soon.
Let’s discuss comments next. Did you know that mere 30% of websites on the internet allow readers to leave comments? It is because of spam and the need to moderate the comment section. But here’s the thing, many “free” services come with hidden costs called data privacy. Many users don’t realize that comment service providers track their activity and collect personal data without their consent. That’s something I’m concerned about for my visitors.
Considering these circumstances, I’m left with two options. The first is to skip the comment section altogether, but that wouldn’t be fair to those who want to engage in discussions. Therefore, a more practical solution for me is to engage in conversations on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. This allows me to interact with users via social media, reducing the risk of spam comments and saving time on moderation. My plan is to include a link in each post that corresponds to a tweet and a Facebook post URL, through which users can join the conversation.
What’s the story behind the name “The Scribble Post”?
I picked the name “The Scribble Post” because it reflects the spontaneous and unfiltered nature of the content I want to create. A “scribble” is seen as something informal or rough, but to me, it represents the freedom to express my thoughts without worrying about being perfect. The name captures the essence of what this blog is all about: sharing thoughts, reflections, and insights in a natural, authentic way, much like how you’d jot down notes or sketch out ideas in a notebook. It’s a place for curiosity and creativity, where the focus is more on what you say, not how you say it.

Footnotes
Whistleblower and anti-surveillance advocate Edward Snowden remarked that “Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say."[9] From his perspective, governments are obligated to protect citizens’ right to privacy, and people who argue in favor of the nothing to hide argument are too willing to accept government infringement upon those rights.
